Lewis urges Hatton to hang up his gloves

Former heavyweight world champion Lennox Lewis believes Ricky Hatton should consider retiring following his defeat against Floyd Mayweather. Hatton was stopped in the tenth round, suffer the first loss of his career in a gritty encounter. Lewis said: “I don’t think Ricky has anything else to prove. It’s really all up to him whether he wants to retire or not. “Ricky now has to sit down and see how he wants to re-establish his career. But if it were me, unless I felt I could come back and actually beat Mayweather, then I would retire.

“He can say he tried his best but Floyd was the better man on the night.”

Sir Henry Cooper, who floored Muhammad Ali in the 1960s but failed to beat ‘The Greatest’, also admitted Hatton faces a tough decision about his future.
